Our hearts are heavy over the loss of our Donnie. My family and I are very sad about his passing. The kids will miss their Uncle Donnie very much. He was a great guy. We are all very sorry. We ask God to watch over my sister Penny.

I remember about three years ago, our whole family gathered at the house for my Mamo's 80th birthday and my dad's 50th birthday. We had so much fun together. I noticed Uncle Donnie had his truck parked in the grass and for some reason I had the idea to drive it around the yard. At first I was a little nervous asking him to drive it because I hadn't gotten my license yet (I was only 14.) But then I knew he would let me drive the truck because he was always full of joy and always wanted to have fun. When I asked him to drive it around, he had a smile on his face and said, "Well sure!" I can hear his voice now. So, we hopped in the truck--I was in the drivers seat and he was riding shotgun. Then he had the idea of having everyone hop in the bed of the truck! Probably ten people hopped in the back and we set off. Everyone was bouncing around, laughing, and screaming because I went a little too fast. I could tell that he wanted to be that cool-but-also-responsible uncle because he gently tapped my shoulder every time I turned a little too sharply. That is a day I will never forget because shared smiles, laughs, and screams in the cab of that truck together. I love my Uncle Donnie and I will always keep him in my heart. And, I promise you Uncle Donnie, I'll never cheat in UNO again.

Our Donnie will be missed greatly at Scott Rice and with our clients. Donnie was a very inquisitive person and touched many. He would always ask you how your day was going. He was an extremely nice guy. You could tell with his questions and discussions that he was quite a family man. I will miss his short visits at our office in Lawrence and his big smile. Donnie is surely at peace with our Lord, and an Angel with us today. Our prayers are with you Penny and family. Brenda

Penny, we are so sorry for the loss of Donnie ,looking back I took for granite he was gonna be there forever,as I think of the trips, the times we went out,the KU games we all went to,the Bon fires there is not many great times he was not part of,Today we all lost a true friend.
